G'day all I'm looking at getting another saw and was thinking of an 064 ported just a couple of questions were there two different types of 064 I've heard a lot of people say that all they are is a 066 with an 85cc jug I figure if that was right what's the point they be heavy with less power I came across this photo which shows the 064 being of smaller size

Or is that just because of the smaller filter box some mates said just get a 661 but I can't stand the soggy AV reminds me of the Huskies and besides the only m-tronic I trust is this one

Any and all info on one of these would be much appreciated how much lighter then a 660 if at all cheers D

Yeah that's it got me beat why they would bother doing something so silly as that would be like putting a 440 top end on a 460 case

Overhere most saws used by " a company for forest and woodland management" are 650 instead of 660, lower price, and increased reliabilty as the power is lower.
Maybe stihl had spare 52mm jugs, maybe wanted cheaper version of 660, maybe didnt have a successor for a 064, so they put 52mm jug on a 660 and called it a day.

They aren't even close really. Early ones had M4 bolts for the top cover, cylinder bolt pattern is smaller, PTO side is made for an external discharge line for the oil pump not built into the case like the 066. Also I've never had an 064 top cover that had molded in gunning sights, painted on only.

I sold my 064 for one reason and only one reason -- it was a complete shoulder buster and arm/hand breaker to start. It had no decomp valve and the compression was huge. Yes, I could start it, but it was anything but easy. One-on-one against my 660, it would probably have dominated, but I never matched them up.

A burly logger drop started my 064 and then told me never to sell it. But, then again, he went out and bought a 661 M-tronic. The guy who bought the saw says that his 880 is the only saw he has that is stronger than the 064 that I sold him. Looks like the logger was right.
