I am rebuilding my Stihl 064. I acquired a Stihl hug for it that someone started the porting process but did not finish. Looks clean and I plan on putting a meteor piston in it. Is this doable or will I end up rebuilding it again? Pictures of jug below.

many and all help is appreciated. I don’t really want to get it replated or finish the port job.

Nick

  1. Depends on how disposable the funds are for the first try with this unknown\unfinished jug.
  2. If its no big deal if it were to wreck the crank from piston and ring pieces chewing up the bearings then I guess..never know till you try..just a gamble I'd say.

That one reminds me of a similar cylinder someone got off ebay, that was junk or something, and possibly sent back just to have the seller relist it. I hope it isn't the same cylinder. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Yep, looks exactly the same

Ugh well I am out $30… where do I send it to attempt to get it replated?, thanks for catching my fubar fellas. He sold it as a partial port job… bought it too long ago to return it. Trying to bring this old 064 I have to stock.

Man id forget about that can of worms and look up Cross performance see if you can get one of the piston and cylinders that Randy at Mastermind designed..replating ain't gonna fix those ports.

I think millennium tech will weld on cylinders, rebore, and replate, but I don't know about blind bores, and I'm sure it's not cheap.

I recently bought a Cross Performance cylinder kit for my Stihl TS 420 concrete saw and measured the base gasket surface to squish ring distance.
it was .020 more than OEM and I had to delete gasket to get back to OEM squish.

I had to eat shipping on that and the guy pissed me off multiple times in the transaction. Are the bolt holes messed up as well???
