It's stock, I can't remember if I deleted the base gasket or not on this one. I have three, plus the 25 or so other saws I have. While I would hate to sell it if you are interested I'll take some better pics, maybe even a video in some oak. Heck I'll even dye the top covers black for ya.

Lol. Yup. I want to try and take a walk on the other side.

Jeff, only the first year 046s had the D cylinders, and they are supposed to have better port timing than the later 046s and 460s, and some of them came from the factory with a dp muffler cover.

Ironically, both my ported 460s have 046-D cylinders on them, but my ported 046 is not a D cylinder saw. In addition to the better port timing, I've been told the D cylinder will produce about 10 more psi, all else being equal.

I've got this saw at the house, Ben brought it over A few days ago. I'll try and get a video up. This saw is a monster. Somebody is getting a deal and a helluva saw at this price. If I needed a mid 70cc saw to cut my firewood with....this wouldn't be leaving my shop.

Thanks Brian, appreciate any info I can get on this stuff. Unfortunately, I don't see anyone posting like the do the S/N & date for 10 mms, the 046/460 stuff all seems a lot more vague.

That said, I know if you get a saw with a factory dp muff, they are supposed to be runners, and I think the SN cut off is somewhere around 138******, but that is just speculation on my part.

I'll tell you what, I am also shocked how strong my MS440 is w/o any port work (just at home mods). It clocked 3 runs on the dyno of 6.7/6.8 Hp. Not bad for a 70 saw that is not ported!

That is pretty good considering spec says 5.4hp
Just shows what giving a saw some airflow will do!

The early 044's were the loggers favorite for a long time here just because of this fact ,lot of grunt in a lightweight package .

I'm glad I have both (044 & 460). I especially like the 460s ported, they really wake up.

Brian, I like that 440 just as much as the 044s. Don't know if I just got a good one, or if most of them respond to the "do at home" mods, but I'm pleasantly surprised.
