That's what 'was' the case and what's shown in the IPL, but Stihl are telling me the only bearing now available to suit the 1128 series saws is the 4278 bearing.
I just purchased a 4275.
From what I've been supplied with from the dealer 4278 has the groove......Dealer says the other two part numbers 4270 & 4275 are NLA and are superseded to 4278.

You guys need to remember that every bearing like this is a “grooved” bearing. That relief cut around the outside can be whatever we want to call it, but even without it, it’s still a grooved bearing.

Stepped / grooved / shoulder?....I don't really know what the proper name is?

I too recently ordered and received 9523 003 4275 bearing from Stihl for an 044 build as listed by Stihl mediacat and confirmed by said catalog that bearing 9523 003 4278 is for a 460.

So 4278 & 4275 should be the same width?
Phil, I have NFI when it comes to the PN’s, but I do know they are the same width. One is just grooved on the OD and the other isn’t. If you use the grooved one, the pump will still set the correct depth in the case half. The pump will be sloppy on it, but the two screws and the worm gear will keep the pump in place.

I’ll look and see if I have both here and snap a pic.
