Will a tank from a Stihl 034 fit on a 036? I have a chance to get a nice 036 with the rear handle sheared off behind the air breather cover.

I should have Looked up part numbers or cross checked on the Bay. The answer is they will interchange. Now to see how the HAGGLING is going to go down.

I picked up an 046 from the dump with a crushed handle, bought a Farmertech replacement to get the saw up and running until I get an OEM one. It has worked great, good fit and no leaks! The only thing I had to do was swap the carb mounting bolts, I believe the ones on the Farmer Tech were too short, so I took the ones off the old 046 tank and swapped them.

I am going about this backwards.. I have some tanks and found a saw needing it. But the parts reference is what I found after I posted my question. This may answer a question for future inquiries. and Thanks

Does the 036 have the compensator carb/air filter? They made some small changes to the 036 tank at ser# X 32 185 626.

The late pro series has the intellicarb self compensating carb. I believe the only difference in the tanks would be the vent style. The later style should allow for the bigger and better filter (similar to the 026 vs. ms260). I hope this helps.
