I was thinking about how to tighten up a choke lever spring that was in no way worn or out of shape. It had a little slack from a slight mismatch in size between the loop on the spring and the cotter pin. I have spare weed trimmer carbs I keep on hand for scrap parts and noticed the fuel line barb is the ideal size for this.
I cut the barb down to size and assembled the choke system with it in place to take up all the slack and add a little more tension... without any risk of damaging the spring or introducing a part that may later come loose.
I used a flat sanding board to clean it up to size at 3.75mm long
