I know of guys that have forced the new big grommet line into the smaller hole, its a struggle and can lead to damaging the line. It`s just so easy to drill them out that I wouldn`t bother fighting with a new line in the small hole.

It might work but I have never gone bigger than 23/64. that seems to be the sweet spot. My only concern about going to 3/8 is the line might leak at the tank grommet. It is difficult to get a nice tight round hole with a common twist drill bit so a 3/8" hole may end up a tad larger.

I drilled one out to the bigger line. Found a bit that just fit in old hole and gave it a good waller till the line fit snugly. No drill, spun by hand. Probably not the right way, but it worked and doesn’t leak riding in the back of the Polaris.

On the older 026`s there is a metal tab on top of the airbox that can be removed / pulled out, that will allow a near straight on lineup for a drill bit or step drill that will make a cleaner+rounder hole.

Nah, got to wait til Monday to see if some dealers got it. I've got a bunch of lines for the 290 series saws, dont have 1 for this. If they got it, I'll probably have it the middle of the week seeing as I'm working Monday and Tuesday. Waiting on an AV buffer as well. Then I can sell that SOB!

The 290 hose will work and probably be what they give you

I was going to say, my 026 fuel line looks just like my spare 029 fuel line I have.

Umm, no, but it may work for a short time, but the proper hose has extra ribbing on the line between the tank grommet and carb nipple due to the line being severely bent rearward and a short bend to the right hand side, a straight unribbed line will most often kink closed when bent like needed on the 026 and MS260 saws.

The 290 hose`s I have handled had ribs in the tank but a straight smooth run from the tank to the carb. Been a few years though since I last worked on a 290, maybe some changes made to the fuel lines since. I can look up the parts numbers if needed.

See that little tit on it? 290 just has a flat spot on it, not that pointed tip.
