Braze a just barely legal stainless screen onto the inside of the muffler cover where the pipe goes through?![]()
Here's my take on the problem. If the screen is on the inside it can not be cleaned. When the ring is pushed over the screen it flairs out behind it, once tacked on to the muffler, rendering it unable to come off. When cleaning does become necessary, just burn with a propane torch and done.

Four screws and the muffler half comes off, que no? Then propane torch and burn it clean? Won't hurt my feelers if my idea isn't used, just like the idea of the screen being out of sight. Either way, I'd use a less restrictive screen. Here's my take on the problem. If the screen is on the inside it can not be cleaned. I like what you did there. Any way you would be willing to share a few more pictures of how you do it
