I have Poulan Pro saw that I would like to get another chain as a spare. Right now I have a Oregon H78 on it and it does a good job for what I use it for, which is just cutting wood to split for firewood. I'm intrigued by full chisel chains, specifically the Oregon 20LPX, but I worry about kickback issues. The semi chisel chain I'm looking at is the M20bpx. I don't have a lot of experience cutting wood but I want to start cutting more and that is why I would like to have a spare.

So if you were me what would you do?

Full chisel will cut a little faster in clean green wood. It will dull faster in dirty dry wood. In other words if you are cutting down green trees, full chisel is great. If you are cutting dead blown down trees, semi chisel will stay sharp a little longer.

Study the cutters and maybe take some pictures. Then, when it needs sharpening, you will have a reference. Always wear protective chaps and other PPE
