36F0F471-A659-464A-9224-3BCCD59BCB8F.jpeg I agree that 1/2 tons are sprung soft but they are built for a commuting and light duty purpose. I think my latest regular cab 3/4 is by far heavier built than any of the last trucks I’ve had-all regular cabs and all 3/4 ton except for the ‘87. Current ‘16 can handle 3500 lbs payload and that blows my mind. Boxed frame, heavier axles, superior brakes all the way around, still decent gauge steel for the body panels and bed, etc. In my opinion the new trucks are better than ever, if you don’t want all the bells and whistles you can still order a more stripped version.

Here is another one of mine pulling a 1977 commander motor home. Flat towed it home for my uncle. Had a lot of fun back in the day before everyone got all safety concerned!View attachment 200603
I see the Alaska plate...
You can still do stuff like that up here
Heaviest load for my crew 4x4 1 ton was 24 barrels of gas on my trailer and 7 in the back of the truck. Hauled it 200 miles from Haines Junction to Beaver Creek took 4 spares, used none. The 6.2 was down to 30 MPH on the hills but made it and got paid.

A friend of mine owns this one. His father in law bought it new. Can't remember what year it is but the inside is even cleaner than the outside.

I always mis my '89 3500 srw crew cab whenever I see his.

You must have done some work to the spring pack or added some overloads or air bags now don't get me wrong I love Chevy's as well as mid 70s Ford's but Chevy's can't haul heavy loads worth a damn stock. Lol.

I call *B-S.....

This is my (former) stock truck. No airbags or anything else added. LOL.

The ‘85 I bought for $300. 305/SM465/NP208. I installed a Semi Float 14 bolt from an ‘88-up truck. Had to move the mounts, but much stronger than the 10 bolt. And I also put a 350 in it.

The 88 and back used a much shorter spring pack than the 89 and up (new body style). The short springs rode like heck, but they carried much more weight before the truck would sag. I know I had mine way overloaded several times but it was never squatting. Best thing I did to that truck was add a rear swaybar from a c30 camper. Made all the difference in the world when loaded heavy.

That's because it's a one tun just because it doesn't have duals don't mean it's not one tun you guys just don't like Ford's which is fine I like them both I'm not a Chevy hater trust me I love them to but I'll always pick a good old Ford highboy over a Chevy truck any day that's just my personal preference so keep the hostel twords me down to a minimum.:beer-toast1:
