Just ripped another pair of rual king jeans. Anybody got recommendations for anything more cost effective than RK jeans? 6 pairs seem to last me 2½ months.

Where are they ripping? Splitting the seam, catching them on sharp objects?

Carhart, Key are good.
These are tough as they come.

In my experience, Prison Blues never stop shrinking. Wild Ass jeans from Baileys are my go-to. It took me a lot longer to wear out a set of Wild Ass jeans than it did a set of Carhartts. All the Carhartts I had started getting random, small holes so I stopped getting them.

Wrangler from Walmart. Buy several pair every fall and the old ones go to work pants. I’ve torn them, but never had them split. I wear them six days a week and the new ones on Sunday. Relaxed fit of course. Some are 8-10 years old.

The heavy denim Wranglers are pretty stout. All we used to wear on the farm. At work I have to wear FR. The Ariat stretchy FR stuff has been solid but definitely pricey.

You asking for a friend?
Well, if you are splitting seams, probably need to lose weight (or wear baggier pants), if you are catching on sharp objects, then you need something tougher that won't tear so easy. This is what I have learned!

Years ago, I was doing work in a steel mill that required all natural fiber clothing.

Fortunately, there was a ‘manufacturers outlet’ type place nearby, that sold Wrangler jeans.

They held up pretty well, and at $10 a pair, sometimes I had to decide if I was going to do laundry, or just buy more.

Still have some. And see some used ones priced higher at Goodwill (I guess ‘vintage’ and ‘distressed’ are still a fashion statement)!

Similarly, I have bought Costco brand jeans for as little as $10-$12 a pair, went on sale. Once, on line,
because they did not have my size in the store.

Held up well. Might be worth a look.

So, part of it, is do you want to wear heavy, double-front jeans that are thick, and expensive, or willing to get some value priced ones that you replace more often?

I don't mind paying $40 for a set of jeans if I know I'm gonna get 4+ years outta them, but I also have Dickies slacks that I use as light weight work pants. I have to wear nice slacks for work, so when they get worn enough they're no longer cosmetically nice but still functional they become shop use. Slacks work great for auto repair, and when I've got saw work or when it's cold enough out that I want thick jeans I use them.
