Awesome brother! You’re definitely hooked! I started to really have fun with a fly rod when I got into Skagit casting:Just picked up a fly rod Thursday evening. Took it to a local pond to try it out. The bluegill was my first catch on it and the bass was the biggest i got with it. View attachment 429106View attachment 429107

I was throwing some wooly buggers and chubby Chernobyl's but no takers todayNo fly rod today?
Got a friend who does some fly fishing and tying. We were talking the other day and I think he is going to try to catch carp on a fly rod next. Supposed to be a good fight on a fly rod. I dabbled years ago but not too seriously, might have to get back into it a bit just to change some stuff up.I was throwing some wooly buggers and chubby Chernobyl's but no takers today
I want to start tying too. The shop that had classes will teach fly tying over the winter. I'm just starting but so far i am really enjoying itGot a friend who does some fly fishing and tying. Are you using a vice and bobbin? If not it will make a world of difference. Crappie jigs tie easy with heavier thread anyway. Grandfather used to tie using just sewing thread back when they were called doll flies. I need to tie some up but its so easy to just use bobby garland and change out colors without retying hooks. Been pouring jigs with light wire hooks so they will bend most times without breaking the line when you get it into the brush. Bend them back and go on fishing.View attachment 430031
5 little ones and 1 slab this morning for lunch. Tie my own jigs but have never fly fished. Don’t believe my beat up fingers could tie anything smaller.
One native, one hatchery? I know that they cut the adipose fin for hatchery. What are the regulations for the different ones? Keep more of hatchery, different length limits?Got some nice chinook today! 13.5 and 22lbsView attachment 433084View attachment 433085View attachment 433086
