What kinda rig & bait did you use?

3 inch shad with a 2 ounce weight and a 5/0 Daichi circle hook.

Have caught and released a decent amount of chinook, changed the rules to only hatchery this year

Sent the catfish home with the guy who fished with me on Saturday and brought home a nice mess of crappie on Monday.

Neighbor played hooky yesterday and we went for some water therapy. I cleaned these and sent them home with him then fixed some of Monday's for supper. I haven't had potato pancakes for a while and they sounded good.

Just cornmeal and a little salt when it comes out of the fryer. Crappie is mild and we like being able to taste it fresh. Catfish I will dip in cornmeal and use season salt after an oil bath.

Waited around instead of doing my usual dark 30 run to the lake and was able to get my dad to go along. Nice day out and a few tasty fish.

Christmas present for my youngest. Wanted something that he would have the rest of his life. Got a Penn Battle III coming in as well for it. Should be good for paddlefish this coming year.

Blank specs for 20 to 50lb but we are running 80lb braid with line counters for trolling with others they make. Usually use 50lb braid when throwing or not running divers. May use 80lb braid and then 50lb mono leader.

These are filter feeders and you have to snag them. Never know where that hook will hit so heavier gear is kinda a requirement. Getting older so I started cheating by trolling with dipsy divers last couple of years. Easier in the boat, but a whole lot of fun from the bank. You ever find yourself on this side of the world in March/April I will gladly take you out fishing for these. Heck you ever come visit I'll call in sick and we will hit some water somewhere.

Tough day for me. Took about 41/2 hrs and only caught 8 crappie.

Had many days with no fish. I feel bad when I take someone and can't find what they want to bite on. But there are times I just go by myself just to get out and away from the house. Catching fish is just a bonus on those days.

Little bit cold today. The loons have moved back south again. Be seeing them until March or so.
