I like to use a Lancelot I believe is the name, 4.5" grinder with chainsaw chain for cutter's. Very quick and pretty precise, I even carve my kids Derby car's for Boy Scout's. Can quickly get it worked down to the point of only needing a couple of minutes with a 4in1 rasp and then sand! Although it was somewhat intimidating the first time I tried it on the Derby car's, the grinder I use screams (14000 rpm) and it kinda odd to work in the palm of your hand when you first try it ...Fast is with a 5 inch wide belt sander and a sharpie i can get them as close as i need quickly.
Draw knife sanding or whittling takes much longer.

I ground out the tube's a half inch in each one plus brazed another tube up top for a quad port .Real nice!
