It’s a rust remover product called “Evapo-rust”, non toxic and doesn’t eat at good steel the way vinegar does. It also leaves paint intact, I’ve been really impressed with it.
Where you find this snake oil?
It’s everywhere online but I grabbed a couple gallons at Advanced Auto Parts.
It’s really good stuff. About $30 for a gallon if I recall correctly but it doesn’t lose potency like vinegar does so I think it evens out in the end.
I agree just like chip and Joanna screwed up antique stores. Now rusty tools are accent pieces. I use to pick up blacksmith hammers, foot adzes and other stuff at antique malls fairly cheap.

Not sure on the jersey brand. I like the steel and it swings well even though the head is heavy.

Thought I would share this. I have been collecting hewing tools for about 18 years. This was actually one of my first finds. I have never seen a forged broad axe in this condition. Most are cast steel or the forged ones are wore out. I haven’t found another one like it.
