Hey I used to pack and ship DC-8 parts and was told to over pack? Guess it stuck, but even if sending someone a free saw I don't want it arriving broken (even more ) ?
You should see how I pack a nice saw!! Lol

I use 120 yards of tape on each box. 2 full rolls. Kari always gets on me bc of the continuous noise my tape gun makes.

I have been known to line the interior of a box with 1" foam insulation board, before the saw even goes in. It makes for a very rigid carton.

i pack a saw good when i got the packing material available just ask kevin filled with pizza boxes and shop towels lol.

I pack saws good...no notes though. Use a box that's a little bigger than the size you need and add in extra foam/paper.

Scott @tree monkey must have really put the fear in ya Gary, the box I received yesterday had so many ship to labels on it the mail man had to deliver it five times! LOL Seriously though, thanks for taking the extra care to pack it up right.

Scott even handled the crankshaft from this one just to make sure it was straight and true.

Top off with more foam
Tape heavily. Ps remember to put bar and chain in before taping damnit.

My dad only cut the duck tape that held the lid closed to check the content, I was at work when the box arrived.

I think I'm going overboard when boxing stuff up, but I like to go by the saying "Better safe than sorry!".
For whatever reason I also want the package to look nice, as such I tend to require a lot of time for a single box to end up looking like these:
