I run a small shop so most chains i get look like they were cutting pavement so i have to take off quite a bit. I use a pink wheel on these. For the chains that are just slightly dull i can use the CBN wheel and only take off a few thousandths. If i tried to use the CBN on a trashed chain it would take 3 different passes. Not for $7 a chain.
7.00. Id be so wealthy with that kind of money. A trashed chain with high rakers costs the customer the same. I saw my local dealer is charging 9.00 a chain or 2 for 16.
What are you guys doing to clean your chains before sharpening them?
Thanks. I'll go read up on your process.Sounds like a good deal for both of you.
My chain cleaning process is described in this thread:

No need if already clean, but some chains I get look like they are caked with asphalt.
Since it removes all of the lubrication, it is important to re-lubricate it afterwards.

I have tried a lot of things. If I had a lot of chains to do, and had a parts cleaner, I might use that.If I had a heap of dirty chains to clean I'd probably lay them out & hit them with the pressure washer. Never tried it but bet it would have them sparkling clean.
