The reason is that "soft close" auctions require a huge time commitment.
They also prevent me from snip bidding with ultra fast fiber-optic internet at the very last second

Yes. Within the last 2 minutes I believe. Adds 2 more minutes.
Gotcha...yeah, our local auction does the same thing with the last minute, keeps resetting to 60 seconds if a bid is entered. I set a max bid and let it ride, if I get it great, if not, I get to watch someone keep upping the price until they get it...lol
