My guess is that like myself, everybody is kinda taking the summer off. Hard for me to think about saws when it's 95 outside and 90% humidity.
Same thing here. Saws are parked in the garage for the summer .

I dug out the 064 cylinder @Mastermind kindly sent me for my 064 and decided to start practicing some porting on it.
Not as pretty as Jays grinding but should work well.

I measured each corner of the cylinder base and carefully sanded .020 off the base checking it was even as I went. Rotating the cylinder every 2 or 3 runs over the emery paper kept it spot on.
Made a sanding mandrel out of a damaged 064 piston that came with the saw. With a gasket I had to take .010 off the squish to give me .020 squish.

Timing measured 103.5/123/74
I took it to 101.5/122/78

I plan to make a stone with a rounded edge to get into the uppers with a smoother result.
Still need to smooth out the ports

What tool do you use to finish the ports Jay?

Exhaust is finished with 1/4" sanding drums. Transfer and intake is done with a single cut burr and a little wd40 nothing else. You don't need lots of equipment to do it. I pretty much use one burr from start to finish.

WD40...... does that make it a bit slippery so it cuts smoother..... less bite?

I will chase some little sanding drums!

Thanks mate

Its roughed in.
I will give the WD a run and smooth it out.
Yes.... practice, questions, watch, listen, learn and never think you have it sorted..... I am on it like a fat kid on a doughnut :)

Cheers mate, I appreciate the help!

I have a 1201 unlimited flywheel in the mail from... somewhere in the world.
Will just need to test it with a 1300 coil to see if it works.

O I forgot! I got a kool build coming up that I've never done, 066/056 mag11
Should be fun

I met a guy years ago (Ricky Hennessy) that built a couple of those and ran pipes and 084 carbs. He said they were great runners and I saw him take first place with them at a few shows in the southeast.

He was at the races in Missouri I went to. Didn't have much time to chat with any of them since I had to be at work that night. Ken Hebert was there as well.
