Gonna pull my 038 cylinder to clean up the carbon in the exhaust port. Was wondering if it would be ok to reuse the base gasket so long as it dont tear or are they a one use item?

You'll get differing opinions - in some applications, a base gasket is a "crush to fit" item and reuse is not recommended.

In the case of an 038, I would say reuse it - if you're careful. I would put a layer of anaerobic sealer on both sides. Not much, just a thin layer.

I would feel comfortable reusing if you could get it off of both the case and the cylinder without it ripping. If it doesn't come off of both side without ripping, its probably a good practice to replace. if it does come completely off, do what JJ said and put some sealer on it just to be extra safe.

If your not in a crunch for time, or feel like doing a little moding, you could do a BGD or just order one online. They are practically dirt cheap
