Hey guys…

I have a red max EBZ8500; I have had many of these come through the shop before but this one has a new problem that I've never experienced;

the ignition switch/Killswitch does not shut the blower down. I have isolated the problem specifically just to the coil I have even created new leads with perfect continuity out of spare wiring and grounded the terminal directly to the side of the block and it will not stop the ignition. The coil has supposedly internally failed and will not allow itself to shut down.

Yet the blower still runs good...

Anyone else have a similar problem?
Would this be covered under warranty?

Thanks guys!

As having similar problem I have seen on several brands over the years where the kill terminal become separated internally.

Don't how Husqvarna is handling the Redmax line but their lifetime warranty on the Husqvarna products is to the original owner only if I remember correctly. You would need to contact the local dealer to see what their policy is.

I have an EBZ 7500 that has that exact same problem. Did the same thing....checked continuity end to end. Actually, I started by changing the kill switch but quickly learned that it didn't solve the problem. Weirdly enough, sometimes (rarely) the switch worked. I have come to the same conclusion that the coil must be the problem. Mine is 4 years old so not holding out for a warranty claim, but still need to get the thing working properly. Did you ever end up trying a new coil?

Just spoke to a Redmax dealer. Apparently, the coil can fail internally causing the kill switch to not function. Redmax has a 2 year warranty. Mine is 3 years old....$76.00 for a new coil.
