I seen a for sale add a few weeks ago that emphasized a red choke lever on the 026. I noticed my 026 has a red choke lever too.

Does this make it super rare and worth a zillion dollars? Seriously though, is there something special about it other than it being my Grandpa's saw?

They are not rare at all just an older variant on the 026. A lot of guys like them because the jugs have good stock timing.

More than the lever color, check the guts of the muffler. Some are really stuffed up with baffles. Open it up and re-tune the carb and you will have a sporty little saw, pretty light too!

This one had the single pencil eraser size hole. The whole oval is opened up now. Besides that was hollow can. Think we have a thread showing there was 3 types used on them.

It don’t sound like the muffler is restricted. [emoji848]

Thanks, I thought it was weird to mention that in the add. I figured if they where more awesomer than a black lever everybody would talking them up like a 346!

Jug has a smaller and rounder combustion chamber than other 026’s. Timing about the same. Usually came with the 194,carb from the factory. Had a bit more power than the later, black lever ones.

I missed that. Saw may have a “red lever”, but not a red lever jug. They had no decomp or boss for one to be drilled.

That jug isn’t original to that saw.

No this is not original jug as it was rebuilt before with oem in past.

But look at 026 IPL. 44mm decomp cyl is in IPL. I have had 3 026 cyl's with decomp in 44mm.

The "RED LEVER" jug has the smallest nearly purely hemispheric offset chamber off all of the 026 jug variant.

Preferable stock. For porting, I like the others for less compression.

Actually thinking of throwing a decomp in it with this cover.
Depends on the next owner. The guy I built it for has been hmm hawing now. So might go to someone else.

Is the 026 that hard to pull over?
