This one seems to need a flat filter without the tabs in the corners more like my homelite 923. where as the other 2 use the plastic filter that's elevated in the middle and have 2 plastic tabs towards the front that fit into holes on the filter mount. This saws filter mount has no holes it's flat all the way around it could possibly be an 040 as stated before not sure, but it is a 44mm piston though like 041 the air filter cover/lid does say 041AV tho
Have you tried the wire felt filter in it , my felt one didnt have the plastic tabs on it

Some aftermarket filters are made a bit too small, you have to cut the locating bumps off them and slap a little silicone around the edges to hold it in place..

I'm on the verge of buying a non-running 041AV that needs a set of points, probably get it tomorrow, fix it next Spring..

Just moved one off my bench. 041, plain jane, points ignition and no AV.

Cleaned and polished the points and it was good to go.

I have yet to buy a set of points and condenser for any saw.

Get her running before investing in a lot of parts.
I've got one that I've been trying to get running for several weeks now, still just pops a little, very weak. 150 compression, new points and WIMA condenser (new condenser ordered, rebuilt carb and intake gaskets, cleaned muffler. I checked it with a timing light and it's about an inch before tdc checked at the edge of flywheel, good hot spark. Will sputter a bit with a prime but that's it. I have new fuel lines on it but I need to check the impulse, probably okay though..'bout to run out of ideas and don't need another door stop...

You would have if you got the one I'm working on...it didn't have anything under the flywheel! It was advertised as having "no spark".

I think I've got a complete points ignition. I'll let you have it for $10.00 and shipping.

I just bought those new. I'm kinda concerned now that the saw doesn't have a tuning problem, think maybe it might be a seal or even a piston/cylinder issue..

I'm kinda wondering if this one turns, I didn't see any slots in the plate, only holes. I suppose you could file your own slots. I widened the gap on the points to a loose 16 and now it kicks back slightly when you try to start it but it still won't run, only pops a few times very weakly. I may have to take a closer look at either the compression. I guess a vac/pressure test also might be a good idea..

Put up a pic.
Here's a pic of mine...041AV-2.JPG It failed the pressure/vac test today so I'm gonna re-do the test and try it again. I know now that it had an intake leak, bad ignition, but wondering if there's any other leaks. I'll know in a day or two..

So it could just be me but I think the piece that the spark plug hooks to should be on the bottom instead of the side.

So the grey one is the one the ipl calls for as you can see in the pics it doesn't fit. the other one is the one I just bought off eBay that was in the earlier posts as you can see it's too small so does anybody have a different part number or any ideas?
