GM engines have been around for a while and I find it hard to believe that in order to make 100k miles they now require magical Dexos oil.
Then again 5,000 and 7,500 mile change intervals don't do them any favors in my opinion! :copas:

EPA says 10-12k is best!

I think it the interval of the oil changes that’s the issue, magical oil, can only do so much! Lol and the low tension rings make it happen faster! Plus I would guess if someone sees a 7500 mile interval they will go 10-15k before they change it! I am a believer in changing oil often! I see it in quads all the time!!
When I use to ride it would be an oil change a weekend. And that was just crusing back roads.

I do 3k even running synthetic oil. Go on and roast me. Its my money my car. I do what i want! GFY. :stick:
Can I have your used oil for my Honda?

EPA says 10-12k is best!
TROOF!

Don't let it form deposits to start with. :D i cant even convince people i work with change their oil often. FFS our employee pricing is 13.50 for a conventional oil change!!!!

That's sad

And is it 13.50.for you to change their oil?

Day 2 of a haze due to smoke coming from Canadian wild fires.

View attachment 189911

Of course, that being said, I'm naturally blaming @GCJenks204

:D

Local news said these fires are just north of Winnipeg.
Any truth to that Gary?

We had smoke real bad Saturday in to Sunday morning. Wind shifted and we've been clear a couple of days. They are North East of us. If looking at a map the East side of Hudson's Bay id where most of them are. We have a couple hundred priority 1 evacuees in town but that's it. Can't be that bad if they aren't evactuating whole communities.

Major rains stayed south and missed the fires yesterday, been raining all day today, hopefully enough of it gets North to help.

EPA needs to gfy lol. I do every 3,000 on my 7.3 as well.

Diesels can usually go longer on oil changes because the diesel fuel doesnt break down the oil like gasoline does. You have to worry about particulates in diesel oil. If you had a real good bypass filter system on your diesel you could probably go 15-18k! But oil is super cheap compared to a good bypass filter.

We have a chain store here called Fleet Farm.
They run rebates on Delvac and occasionally Rotella in 5 gallon pails. After the rebate it comes out to $2 a quart.
Between my Dad and I, we usually have 2 or 3 full ones.

I love Fleet Farm, just hate the nearest one is 4 hours away in Fargo. Usually stop in the one in Alexandria, MN on my way to MNPLS.

After the Mills family sold it, I was wondering if it was just going to turn into another Lowes, but so far so good.

We have a store called Farm and Home out here.

Delvac 15w40 is 1.75 a quart with rebate!

And carbon. And broken ring lands.
Those are hard to see with all the goo on the slugs..
I had to scrape the top of the bore above where the top ring rides. I couldnt knock the damn pistons out with all the build up.
The whole thing is pretty gnarly inside.
How many miles?

I kind of agree. But, how much boost?
These are only seeing roughly 15 psi. max.
Also, they are only 1.4, 1.5, 2.0 liter displacement.
The rod journals barely fit down the bore on these.
There is such little tension on the rings I push the piston out of the compressor into the bore with my thumbs.

I managed a pennzoil quick lube a few years. The GM cars that came in when the dash told them to were always 1.5qts low. That can't help!

I go 5000ish on synthetic with a filter and top off somewhere in the middle. 215,000 on a 2012 focus. 2 sets of brakes, 5 sets of tires, and both rear shocks!
