I ran 181/281 then 288s since the 80s
Still my favorite large saw I have 395s also
I made a 288xp lite clone last year
Beaglebriar ported a non decomp oem cylinder and I used a cut down 066 piston
Really impressed with this saw now
I save my oem stuff it's getting long in the tooth.
Between a 288 and a 064, I feel pretty set. The 288 is pulling full comp .404 on a 36 inch bar in 34+ inches of hardwood with authority. I don't see the need for a 2100 or a 395 after running this 288. I wouldn't complain if I had one, but I couldn't practically justify it.
