And is their any dirt roads in Tennessee? We were staying in Rutherford county and I didn't see a one.

Not a one in the county I live it that I can think of. Lot's of tar & chip roads though. Our soil turns to muck in most places during the winter.

It was sure nice and I can see an added safety factor of not sliding off the road.

Gravel here is made from crushed limestone. It breaks down to dust on gravel roads in a few years. That might be the reason that we have less gravel roads than many other states. In North Carolina when I was a kid, we had a lot of roads made from packed clay. They put used oil on them in the summer. Can you imagine the outcry over that if done today?
