It’s become popular in the motorcycle and quad industry, and it’s basically a wet media blast, they can use different media, some use soda in the water and there is other media used as well. They can add some degreaser too. I think it’s pretty basic, but it leaves a really nice finish, and deep clean, without deforming the surface. They even make blast cabinets for it, and you can convert other cabinets,You are not the only one.

Terry Ives does vapor blasting on the Mac cylinders he works on, it leaves it a very nice finish. I've done dry blasting with soda and fine nickel media but the finish with those is not as nice as vapor blasting.
I know some of the vintage kart guys have used crushed Walnut shells for blasting as well on thin sheet metal.
