Wonder how old they are.
I am guessing 50 years at the newest, and 70 at the oldest. These were really thick shakes, and the back side of the house shows almost no wear and probably an inch to 1-1/4 thick. We have replaced shingles that were 1/4 to 5/16 inch thick when new and they were worn 1/8 and only up for 20 years
These are 17 years old and rotting in spots97650F70-A58F-43A7-BC19-75EBA80CDD28.jpegDD7967C7-6B1B-46F7-9611-0E6B6191EF88.jpegThe newer cedar is getting worse, quality wise

Looking at these three tires... any thoughts? I’m not gonna spend $2k on tires so I can get a fancy name brand. These are all under $1000 for a 35x12.50r22.

I want something more aggressive than an all terrain... I’m kinda leaning towards the middle one, because I feel like the one on the right will be too loud with the large voids between the lugs.

I have a set similar to the middle one on my F-150. Loud as hell.
Something similar to the one on the left on our 13 Jeep JK. Nice and quiet. Seem to be wearing well, and pull well off road. Cooper Discorerer ATs.

Yeah mud tires are loud. But ATs aren’t holding up well on the roads I’ve been driving. I need something more aggressive. I’m not too worried about getting a lot of miles out of them, either.

Do you have enough load range with any in that size? That may be why you’re killing them pretty quick. Most I seen in that size are only good for 2850 lbs each. Toyo RT did good for me off road and on as long as I was loaded within reason. With 25k on a trailer they couldn’t dig good enough to climb hills in dirt.

Most are 117 on the load range index. The ones I’m looking at are 121, like my current Nittos... around 3,300 lbs max.

Maybe you have better roads where you live, but I’ve never gotten 25,000 miles out of any tires since the first 7.3 I bought new in 2002.

I know that area very well. And I remember that fire, mainly because of the helicopter crash.

Yep. Wasn’t a good day, I was at the helibase to be on the return flight back up, my buddy (who I was switching out with) was supposed to be on that flight.
And we thought he was. He got bumped ( due to weight) to take the next flight down with all the Medical gear he had at the remote camp.
There was also the fatality from a felling accident gone bad and a member from a crew drowned in the Trinity river swimming after shift.
Long hot battle that year

Figured they would wrap that in plastic hauling it under a dirty cummins though.

Right! There was wrecked cars on that hauler as well, a smashed BMW and a Toyota van hit in the side... I guess anything goes on it!
