Anyone collect lights?

I’m still dreaming up a way to fire this 16kw, 130VDC/125A Mercury arc lamp.

I knew a few folks that collected some of these when I was working in radiotherapy. The photons might be a little too energetic for street lamps, tho.:

Nice, I'll have to keep an eye out for one now, ebay should have cheap ussr units

Terrible to think it really wasn’t that long ago people were standing in front of X-ray tubes for extended periods of time for reasons meant to improve health. At least we know now.


The previous lamp of mine would normally be used for Photolithography

Occasionally a dosemetrist or therapist would fire up the linac without properly warming it up. It was a good way to destroy the x-ray tube that was about to get a bajigawatt of energy shoved up it's hole to produce x-rays. It would crack the cathode. Just too many electrons trying to squeeze in to it, upping the resistance and heat too quickly. And pow - 15K worth of damage in an instant. Not including labor. The smell was amazing, too.
I installed the machines that talked to the linacs. I still use my old handle here and there - rtpwyk - RadioTherapy Products and my initials. My old email addy for work.

Oh you have much to learn! So much crazy stuff on cars today.

Indeed! I was surprised to see that, like hmm. The charging ports fuses blew. Replaced and voila, good to go.
