Paid my registration the other day. Thanks, California.

This is to license my truck for one year. :vomiton22je:

I’d be getting a new address and just “work” in the state. They need a dose of reality and kick a lot of mooches off the system. That’s 1/3 of what I paid on my truck new and I never pay taxes again on it.

Ya, but you have to set up an address out of state and get your mail there to be legal, lots of people try to do that in Oregon,”live” here 6 months plus one day, to save on registration. And you can but then we have state tax, we don’t have sales tax, so that helps, but only if you live here

Yeah, you’ve gotta live out of the state at least 6 months of the year... my dad has a house in Montana. He bought a truck and licensed it there, and within a week of coming back to Ca, the Highway Patrol sent him a letter telling him he had 20 days to license it in Ca, or if he was caught driving it with Montana plates, it would be impounded.

We have 7.25% income tax, 1% property tax ($200,000 house = $2,000 tax per yr.).

State Income tax:

I work for myself, so I pay income tax, and a minimum of 15.4% self employment tax on any profit I make for the year in my business.

Fuel taxes are also the highest in the US.

Stopped by Stahls since i was in the area today. Talked with a guy for around 45mins and he gave my wife and i a grand tour. Even gave us each a sweet t shirt! If you ever need saw stuff check out their website. These guys are as real and down to earth as they get.

A couple guys and I ordered a bunch of square files and a couple chains from there over the summer. Great prices!

California wanted $500+ for my Cadillac back in 1997 or so after I bought it there when a bud told me he found a nearly new one for half price(I assume the original owner died?). I was a field engineer at the time and drove thousands of miles a month - the perfect car if work paid for the gas. I registered her in TX for $43, and sent a copy of the payment and reg to the California DMV asking them where was the value in the extra $450 California wanted from me.

Now I'm in Ireland - registering a car like yours or my old Caddy would be about $2500. :( Here it's based on a combination of emissions and year.

Our tiny 1.8litre Volvo, which at least gets great mileage, is $750/yr to tax. :( My old 1 litre VW Polo I got for $225 used was €99/yr to register. So they definitely want you in tiny cars here. But YOU also want you in tiny cars as well - nowhere to park anything the size of a tahoe in Irelad. In fact, I will often box in a range rover if it's parked egregiously because I know they won't bang my doors or back in to me with a €80,000 SUV, and the doors are already scratched anyways :(

Here's that Polo

Out the front door just a min ago. We just had some showers move through, more on their way tonight and tomorrow.
The good thing is we hit tomorrows high at midnight tonight, suppose to be 71, but we're already at 71.
I even captured a picture of the logh ness monster:risas3:.
