St. Patrick got rid of all our snakes, thank God ;)

Here's a 180* pano of the giant Sequoia grove in Powerscourt across the road from us. The original was 15 images merged in to a 52MB 14K image. This is that image crunched in to a 4K resolution. SO it's 10X smaller than the original:

That's very cool! Have to click on the image to get a better effect, and I know my little 13" MacBook doesn't do that good, but it's way better than what shows up initially.
I like how you got your wife and dogs in there.

The funny thing is the pano decided to remove one of our dogs(we have three), and one of the dogs in the pano looks likes is lying down - that's how high the grass is, and hes just a little guy.

You should see the image on a 42" 4K display. It's stunning. Even more so when you realize it's been down sampled from 14K. Forgot to mention, HD TV's and monitors are starting to go crazy:

I've been trying to find an affordable 5K/4K monitor for my puter so I can see closer to the actual resolution my camera has. I only have an HD/2K monitor. An 8k TV in 65 inch or so goes for nearly $5000 now. 10K TV's are way more - some as much was $60,000.

From what ive read black bears are real skiddish and as long as you dont surprise them (make noise and such if you suspect you are near one) they will run.

Now a momma bear and cubs, thats a different ball game.
I came face to face with a huge black bear and three cubs on the back side of a waterfowl impoundment that adjoined some real big blocks of woods we were running dogs for deer through, on the coast of NC when I was at Cherry Point. The Walkers and Beagles were tuning up like hell, coming straight at me but still probably 75-100 yds deep in the woods, as I was standing on the impoundment road...I turned around and that big momma and three cubs were literally standing 40 feet from me. And I never heard any of them coming through the woods, up the side of the big overgrown ditch, and come out to the road. I raised slowly and put my .30-06 dead between her eyes the entire time and slowly just started backing up til I got some distance btwn us. They took off out across one of the dry impoundment areas and the dogs a minute or so later pushed out four/five deer. I busted a 10-pointer when he jumped out on the road and that was enough for me that afternoon. Having that momma and cubs that close and didn't know they were there until I turned around...that'll tighten your *a-hole real quick...I'm talking couldn't push a straight pin up it, kinda tight!

Here's what the damage from the storm looked like, well at least what was on the drives, pictures of other stuff later.
Glad I had the strength to get the drives opened up, this flu bug is still holding on, two weeks tomorrow.
Main drive(shared) and the neighbors parking/turnaround. Just one nice sized locust and a few branches.
I got the logs from the butt section all moved too. Neighbor had a new mast and weatherhead installed today.

This is my accessory drive. I planned on taking the large cherry that these branches broke out of down, it will be easy now without branches lol. Eventually the drive will curve to the right just this side of the suburban, then back to the left and come out right beside the cherry, that's where our property line is. The cherry branches also took out a 6-7" elm that I had planned on saving, plans changed :frown:. I had to move the smaller locust that was right at my cookie cutting area, the good thing is I planned on taking that one out . I diced the locust into firewood just have to pick it all up now.
The Hondarotie Stayed there until this afternoon when I got everything cleared out.

If you have a dirty straight axle Suburban you could of crushed that branch beneath the tires!

Have you guys ever seen one of these? View attachment 199088
A twist and thumb throttle in one?
I can dig it

At the saw shop on today and this pulled in. Just finished last night. Bagged in the rear. Has a 305 now but wants to put an old Detroit in it. Turns out dude is a cousin of one of my good buddies lol.

Second pic is of the old power plant that was decommissioned 9 months ago.

Ended up taking me 5. Never did one of these, Instructions were awful, if I wired it the way they claimed, the winch drum ran backwards from the icons on the controller..
Looked like it took quite a while. The good thing is now you're the winch guy :p.
Speaking of winches I need to remount mine to the tractor soon, it's still off from using the power rake a couple weekends ago. I have a large cherry branch hanger real close to the kids zip line I will need to pull down soon. Wanna swing by with that guys truck lol.

Then I have to get these cleaned up, lots of work to do.

I'll pass, I'll let you guys get the prices down.
I laugh when were watching a movie on our DVD player and then they show how awesome one looks like "high definition blue ray", and your like wow, that does look good, then reality kicks in and you realize it's the same DVD player you had and they can make it look so much better than they do.
When I got my first CD player I bought the cheapest one I could get because my speakers could only do so much of the frequencies anyway, and similarly the ear can only hear so much, especially as you age .

I get ya.
DVD is 720/480 resolution. About 3 times or so what old broadcast was. HD is 1920X1080. Since HD doesn't actually mean anything, they are slowly starting to refer to it as 2K nowadays. If you try to watch stuff connected to your DVD player, bear in mind it was only capable of 720, with a few capable of slightly higher for gaming(1280X720).But it takes HDMI to get 2K. And no DVD player has an HDMI cable.

In other words, if they say it is HD, and yer watching it via DVD player, or without an HDMI cable, yer only getting 1280 at best, and maybe even as little as 720.

4K monitors are affordable right now - about $200-300 for a 24" one. So TV's are likely gonna be affordable soon. I only want the monitor because my camera I use to post stuff to the stock sales sights is a 6K camera(as most are, Sony just introduced their A7IV - 61 mega pickles now, so...uh thats erm... 9.5K. Most movie cams are still only 8K, tho. Some are 12K, and the IMAX ones are like 18K. Anywho, it would be ice to see on the screen what my camera was actually producing without having to zoom like mad.

Thanks buddy, maybe Tuesday :).
Got that hanger down and pushed over the tree that was leaning in the front today.
I still have the good sized black locust that was leaning in the picture with the hanger, but I removed the smaller locust on the same stump and the medium locust to the left that had a little weight on it. The bummer about the good sized one is that it has so much internal damage you can read the tension/pressure so it's a great place to get stuck. I managed to get stuck once tonight, I dropped the oak that the cherry was resting on, then I was blocking it down after it hung on a branch(knew it might happen depending on how the cherry limb pushed it). So I cut the top and then dropped down to cut the bottom leaving a little holding wood as a hinge, but when I did I cut a couple inches to far into the hinge so when I cut thru the bottom it pinched , I'm over it as it wasn't the first and won't be the last especially on storm damage.

My DVD player has an HDMI cord, it's a blue ray.
I don't have a system, but it would be nice to connect it to my MacBook to watch youtube vids.
