Went riding,(got call out by a friend), fun racing, more of a test and tune. All seemed fine until the last two passes...she felt off, but was still running. It’s an alcohol bike so when I got home I fired her up to warm up the engine, then I was planning on switching carbs to my gas ones on. Well in the warm up process all seemed ok, idling fine, and I went into the garage to get my gas carb and she died abruptly! Didn’t think anything except it was odd that it died so suddenly...,but it was dinner time and I waited tell after to check it out...went to fire her up and she felt tight like a piston was dragging...not good! I did know yet but I thought it was odd that a piston would seize at idle. But I didn’t what was wrong and didn’t have time to look at it. So yesterday I started looking, pulled the reeds...pistons skirts looked great, so I pulled the head...016BCF5A-8650-4F18-B6F8-D4DF09262F12.png
I was like wow, they look almost new! Then I was thinking shoot, must be rod or crank bearings, so I pulled the cylinder(mono block) and the rod bearings were free...F924E7E4-3656-4E88-A385-AB0B2DFD77C2.png
So the ment it had to be crank bearings, but running out of time. Semi relieved, and hoping it was an outer crank bearing I tore the bottom end apart today....FE2459A1-AFD0-434B-A77D-BE69366FB803.jpeg1E019FF6-356A-4BB1-9AA2-20397BC15A0A.jpeg FA52296F-C3CD-4F33-A3F1-82A3181522E7.jpeg

Idk, it’s an old crank, but other than the brake, all of the bearings look and feel new, the crank had shifted to the pto side but that could have happened when the flywheel side broke...so I am at a loss, it has a lot oh hours, I bought it originally in 2000, and rebearinged the outers in 08, did that because the flywheel key way was damaged, so that’s a replacement end already, and it failed badly! But that was 10 years ago! She is due, was pretty happy that everything else looks great!
