Looks like next rain is next Tuesday down here. Hopefully the same up there lol.
We shall see. It might not happen as my electrician buddy wants me to help him on a job for a couple of days this week, also... and I have to install cabinets tomorrow.

Quite a bit of varnish on those parts. Long oil change intervals? Was the failure mechanical?

They all look like that.

Lifter roller galls and eats cam lobe.
Or, cam lobe galls/flakes and eats lifter.

They did it right then! Most I've seen was 2.
I assume your replacing the chain too?

No chain. This is one of the service writers trucks and he's already crying about the cost. The other real tech is doing this job. No sheep fluffer on this one!

What fails here Ed? Poor lube or poor maintance?

Bad run of cams..
2005, 2006? I bet. I have had other years do it, but those were the worst for that.
Lack of maintenance probably a factor too.

Fyi, future reference, if your not doing the chain, leave the pan on. And oil pump.
Put at tdc#1.
Unbolt cam sprocket.
Pin tensioner, and drop chain down.
Remove cam plate.
New cam in. You can see a small dimple on the oil pump to line your marks up.
May need a mirror, I have raised partially on hoist and crawled into it so the pump is chin height.
Wrap a screwdriver tip with tape.
Put down a lifter bore to hold cam "forward".
Line crank/cam up. Swear at cam sprocket until pin lines up. Tighten bolt and reassemble.

If I have all the parts, can get a cam in one of those in 5-6 hours depending on how exhaust bolts come out.
