In America common sense is not all that common. This makes sense to me. Not sure why the picture handler is still rotating my pics. Someone help if you can. Merry Christmas
I’ve had both in full-size trucks (Ford and Chevy)... I just don’t need a front 60 for what I’m doing. I am gonna run RCV axles and 37” tires.

It’s just a CJ-7 with an Ls1/Nv4500/Dana 300.
At least that’s the plan. Got my new radiator/fan setup yesterday.

I don’t drive like a douche. Plus RCV’s and no locker (Detroit Trutrac) should help it live. RCVs are guaranteed up to 40” tires.37's and a 44 should be safe at the mall.![]()
You should be fine, cromoly is good stuff! And your rig is pretty light! I went with a 60 because I could do bold on high stear and by the time I added up the costs of upgrading a 44 a 60 was cheaper. But I know it doesn’t always work that way! I was considering getting an hd60 for the back of my blazer so I could run the power lock possi! The Corp 14 bolt hasn’t given me any trouble but I know the gov lock won’t last!I don’t drive like a douche. Plus RCV’s and no locker (Detroit Trutrac) should help it live. There is a local mud drag circuit and most guys run 44’s for weight, and really more 8.5 stuff, and many are running them with taller gears and zero failures, the odd failures are the ford Dana 50’s, odd? The cool front end to get for half ton strength it’s the 89-91 k5 8.5 corporate, its got 30 spline axles stock and you can get lots of good possi units cheap!I was just yanking your chain lol.
I was chasing a 60 for a while but figured the added clearance of a 44 would be more beneficial.
Just as an FYI, the 3/4 ton Chevy calipers have a larger piston in them, it can be nice for tuning brakes, and they are interchangeableYeah it will be a huge upgrade over the Dana 30. Especially with the RCVs and the 30 spline outer axles/hubs and 1/2 ton Chevy brakes. I ran 35s on a stock Dana 30 for a long time.

You may or may not want the swap, the bigger the piston The petal travels farther. And increaseing master cylinder size makes it harder to push the pedal, needing a larger booster.I am running half ton calipers on 3/4 ton rotors for my rear disk swap on the blazer. So I can drop the 3/4 caliper on a half ton front axle?
You probably have eldarado/79-80 z28 rear calipers if it’s got built in parking brakes and gm based. I am a fan of manual breaks if you can get the correct set up! You could probably come close to retaining the Jeep master cylinder if you used the wilwood d52 twin piston calibers. 1/2 ton gm front calipers are usually happy with an 1-1/16 master with a vacuum booster, the “Corvette” master cylinder is a style that is usually used for disk/disk applications, they came in many different sizes. The other consideration is a Proportioning valve, some have a residual valve used on drum breaks to hold about 6psi line pressure. You will want an aftermarket proportioning valve like one from summit that has a dial to reduce rear brake so you can tune front/rear Bias. My 68 camaro is using 2005 corvette rotors and calipers front and back, it is perfectly balanced without a propositioning valve(even though I have a tunable one) and a 7/8 willwood master cylinder, this is manual, not powerYeah I definitely need to figure out the brakes. The rear has discs with built in parking brakes, but I’m not sure what vehicle they’re based off of. The fronts are just Chevy 1/2 ton with Ford hubs and rotors...
It’s always just had the stock Jeep manual brakes, but I bought a kit a while back to make it power brakes (IIRC it’s a Corvette master cylinder ?), but it’s not installed yet.
