@Dubb11 no nothing for me to bid on! Just one of those attitude things-if I don't look I'll miss out on the deal of a lifetime. A week from Saturday 1944 Dodge p'up rat, drive shaft to third member shows. No motor, seats, windows, bed dose have widened wheel buckets in back. If nothing else I'll have pics to post of this one & maybe a voyager mini van full, or not. Starts an hour earlier like the one I got the running 066 w/25" & 32" bars with 7 loops = $320So no saw ?

Too bad I didn't catch in a picture the fly-catcher dropping full open on a city park employee who could not see the rollers. As the crew truck passed by A little shove got the slab to move and he was watching at that time.
Made my day!
While I'm here anyone gotta guess on species 30" día. growth in less than 40 years with that deep bark

Yes that is the correct answer!! This brain is slowed by injury, but at times I ask it a question like " what tree grows that fast with thick bark) so over two hours later I guess cottonwood and ask Google which shows just what I have sliced with little long term benefit. The useable portion is the bark for carving. The other other splits I may make will be driven into the ground alongside my creek, which flows from property line on the right, where I want a bit more erosion control. The front tree line may get re-inforced for noise reduction.Cottonwood?

Amazon seller lists cottonwood bark for $25 with shipping. The chunk shown with tape measure may be 54 cubic inches. And I have been asking for Catalpa to sell to the carving community. Good plan but I've got the bark! Now to finish the harvest and advertise.I know around here in NE Kansas that while out moral hunting we look for dead cottonwoods on the river bottom for good patches in the future.
I had a hackberry log in my yard that started sprouting while laying on the ground.

Heck Im not very good at carving but the small chunks will give me practice with no real cost. Not like basswood carving blocks. The wood workers store has cottonwood kiln dried slabs@ $12.50 bf . Asked the manager about that. His response was " they buy almost anything". I'VE got a blue-print of a solar kiln in my head. May be worth while to make it. I may have to try trading goods for goods. Has that ever been done? LOLI need to check that out now since that's the Kansas state weed, I mean tree.
Thought this was cute rolling down I- 80 in central Iowa.
