It's about 12", works well on non woody 8ft tall weeds, or green woody stems up to 1/2", except pushing cut weeds that big after they fall on the shaft is difficult. It's heavy and can vibrate a lot from not having a large diameter steel mid section, but it is precision balanced.

Northern lights are going in PA. It real bright red but I couldn’t get over the mountain in time to get a good picture.

We as some Northern Lights action last night as well. Sat on the new patio and sipped some rye whisky and enjoyed the bug free evening.
