Could it be a battery operated saw with a clutch, maybe? The bar tail looks small and very tapered, so I'm guessing it's a small saw, hence the guess it's battery operated. The rear bar stud isn't threaded either. That would be another clue it's small.

How old is that post? If the clutch is game changing, I'd say it's because it has slots for removing it with a scrench blade and hammer, and has a hub designed to drive the shoes out harder than just centrifugal force alone.

But, a battery saw with clutch is probably what it is. That may make it safer to increase the torque output of electric.:nusenuse:

Whatever the case, it's got a fraction of the watt hours as a gas saw, and a much longer refill time.
