not really, ive done little stuff from the ground for a long time, only the last couple years started doing it regularly. i work with a friend of mine who has a ton of gear but got sick of having employees, then covid kind of shut him down. i basically provide labor, chainsaws and truck/dump trailer and he has the lift and stuff. its incredible how much work 2 guys can get done with the lift he has and a chipper and loader. involves a little bit of moving equipment around, but its orders of magnitude more efficient than climbing with ropes.Have you always done tree work?
Very common for a tree guy not to be mechanically inclined.ive been working on this guys saws for years. hes very skilled at climbing and rope work and operating equipment, but if you mention tuning a carb or sharpening a chain or making sure the chipper belt is tensioned properly or basically anything else mechanical hes pretty lost haha
Of the couple I've been around I discovered the exact same. On the last removal I was at, one guy using a 395 w/36" hit metal, pulled the saw out and couple of them all gathered. Then he proceeded to put the saw back in the same cut and tried to cut through the metal. Smoke started pouring off the b/c, I started waiving at 'em. I volunteered to make that last cut w/ my saw. Moved down a couple inches and no metal. That was the worse chain I have ever saw. Completely clueless.ive been working on this guys saws for years. hes very skilled at climbing and rope work and operating equipment, but if you mention tuning a carb or sharpening a chain or making sure the chipper belt is tensioned properly or basically anything else mechanical hes pretty lost haha

Gotta get the siding back on the house, and the rails done now.....The porch project is looking good, Randy.
We think it is a native American toy. Found under a bluff with other artifacts.
