You need to be out west here,,, been in the mid 70s last week, we have had 2mm ( .07 inches) of moisture since Jan 1st

Same thing here, over in the valley. We're already having big fires. The eastside hasn't gotten much rain or snow in the last four weeks and is heating up pretty good. They just had a 1,600-acre fire over by Lakeview.

I didn't take this, but I met the photog and got to be friends with him up where I go in the summer to escape the heat on the weekends.

I had a big ole buck like this one, maybe the same one, come crashing through the brush and scare the tar out of me the first time I went up there.

Is that a game farm deer? Just wondering if that's what's up with the ears all hacked to *s-word.
The old school hog marking method.

Nah we don't have them here AFAIK. I imagine it's from getting his ears between antlers fighting over the years.

Maybe.
But I've been infatuated with white tail deer and hunting for as long as I can recall and I've never seen one of those with its ears destroyed like that. Maybe 1 cut or the like, but nothing to that effect.

You'd know a lot more than I then. I keep threatening to hunt deer and never getting around to it.

We have a lot of mountain lions...n yotes.

Interesting. Could be a climate, diet type thing then too.
It's just uncommon to see it here on the whitetails and it just made me think back to how the farms used to mark their free range cattle and hogs by ear cuts.

We have coyotes, wolves and black bears. Bobcats and badgers too but they don't mess with the deer.

You guys still blowing out rear mains up there?

No. Too warm for that to happen.
That one came in a couple months ago, check engine light on for a cam solenoid.
Chain was slapping, intake duct had probably a quart of liquid goo in it.
They finally brought it back for me to do chains and clean the pcv port.
