Is it worth polishing a piston?

Does it reflect heat to make more power?
Does it reduce the thickness of carbon build up, or help it stay clean?
Is it good for scavenging?
Does it hurt performance by letting the fuel bead up on the smooth surface?
Does oil not coat the surface as well?
Does it slow or speed flame propagation?

Does it do nothing?

Good post, regardless. I have often wondered why I smooth out the top of a piston. Many say that polishing the top of a piston 's a waste of time. But, let's see what others have to say about this. I sincerely doubt any performance data is available.
