I've used the basic kits Oregon sold some time ago that were just the gaskets and soft parts .From my perspective they all work .At one time the only place you could get a rebuild kit was OEM through Stihl and they were certainly were proud of them to the tune of about 30 dollars .The Oregon basic kit was around 5 bucks .

It seems only China is still making these.. But OEM pop up on ebay times to times.

Not to be the bearer of bad news but even on OEM stuff you have no idea where it's made .It pretty much a sure fired bet it's likely either Mexico or the Pacific rim though .

Humm. I will say, I do like the easy availability of Walbro kits.

I will probably buy an AM kit and will report back when I see how it goes.
