Every saw of mine has one main B&C setup which comes off only for cleaning and maintenance or if I utilize a secondary B&C setup.
I sharpen/file my chains on the saws.
I never soak chains in oil, but I do squirt some oil into the bars top groove upon assembly after having taken the B&C off for whatever reason.
@Wilhelm , any word on the Dolmar situation, are they going down with Makita

and now for the crazy Italian perspective...i buy the cheapest "transmission" fluid and fill a very expensive coffee can then toss the chain in it fer a few days...then hang the chain from a hook above the expensive coffee can and the damn chains stay pretty lubricated for weeks... tranny fluid is freekin wonderful stuff. just sayin.
The best of all is the tranny fluid, it gets right in there, but I can leave my chains in the oil I
already have, no time limit so they get a good soaking.

I have a dozen or so chains that fit both the 361 and 660 clones. I change chains as soon as chain is not sharp. I clean the chains in lye rinse in water touch up with a CBN wheel the store in ziplock bags lubed with light oil. Life's too short to cut with a dull chain.

I did not ask my dealer yet, I am having some work related issues that take up my attention.

I will post any information I manage to get.
Was wondering if it will affect solo as well their saws are based on dolmars aren't they or do I have that wrong

A coworker of mine turns them inside out, but he does so only on chains of others.
Should help wear the drive links evenly to the cutters.

To my understanding Solo long parted ways with Dolmar/Makita, only the 665/674/781/690 were a joint venture.

Since Solo chainsaws are owned by AL-KO I doubt chainsaw sales will be negatively affected by Makita suspending production and sales of gas powered products unless AL-KO does the same.

To my understanding Maruyama is Makita owned, as such there may be an impact on their product lines as well.

Some Dolmar saws are branded Maruyama (Maruyama MCV51), some Maruyama saws are branded Dolmar (Dolmar PS-311TH)

Thanks for the info Wilhelm. The Maruyama were one time a cheap saw here, simply
because no one knew of their pedigree, but as soon as they found out prices went way up.
Its a sad day for me, am going to buy a new saw, and I cant buy the brand I like, Makita,
they dumped me, they dumped us all with their decision to get our of gas / petrol saws.

I doubt Makita see it, but ditching the gas / petrol saw market will also make people
question their integrity, and ponder what else they will ditch, no one wants to deal
with people who cant be depended on, I cant see Stihl or Husqvarna ditching gas / petrol engined
products in a hurry, infact they have been introducing new models.
I could see through Makitas decision if they had a revolutionary new replacement for the
gas / petrol saws, but none has appeared that would keep existing saw customers buying the brand.

You sharpen your chains with a CBN wheel? Hmmm... interesting. How, exactly, do you do that? And how do you use lye and what does it do, just clean?
