I'm happy so far.
All the fins on the back of the cylinder needed cut shorter for clearance so a heat shield will fit in between it and the carb, but never installed the heat shield. It sure didn't like it when that carb heated up, lol.

I haven't burned any alcohol in it yet and still need to have a pipe made.
It's going to be bad azz for sure. Love the old school builds.

I think this thing is coming along nicely. I fiddled with the carb a little more, fixed the air leak, and fixed the tank vent. I'm still needing to work out a couple behavioral problems with the idle down. It may be just too much carb unless running alcohol makes a difference.
This time around I decided to run a 10-pin sprocket with 3/8 chain. I was very surprised with how it pulled it.

Not sure if you have those stores by you, Hobby Town, Hobby Lobby. They have nitro mix for rc trucks

Acquiring the hardware wasn't what I had in mind when I made the comment.
Running alcohol you need 2-1/2 times as much fuel. Bigger fuel line normally, and gut the fuel filter.

What carb do you have?

Rich on top lean on the bottom.
Dump the timing back and keep the compression reasonable for 20%. A hotter plug might be needed might not.
The main jet usually goes lean on gas carbs. Flood carbs cover it up.

How bout a spacer on the carb plate to hold more fuel also
Drill the inlets and tri-point the needle. Drill the needle seat.
I don't use a larger bowl to cover up a fuel delivery problem.
Case in point. Drag racing a single float Carter 750 carb. They never run out if they are done correctly for proper fuel delivery.
Edit: fixed it, twice, whew...

I've just aquired my first 5200 and I am tickled pink. Was curious about mods I could do to improve performance without going all out like you? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you so much.
