Well I tried but they wouldn't allow them to go on the plane so had to leave them at airport for sis to collect. Then I forgot about a dawg/spike in my carry on bag, so I had that confiscated too and am probably on some list by now. This before I even get out of nz. Glad they stopped me in nz rather than in USA though.

Bugger.

After a loong time, finally the two big PM's returned to their country of origin, but I still have two boxes of parts I'll post videos of hopefully later tonight. If you see something you can use, just sing out and I'll get a postage price for you.

BTW, the rules for chainsaws out of NZ have changed over the last year and there are now a few extra hoops to jump through, but still doable. Would be a shame to have learned an expensive lesson about how not to send them ex: NZ and then not send any more now I know the right way. So, I have a few big pioneers if anyone wants them. Seeing as they are more common, I doubt they are worth sending to USA/Canada but if anyone can find a home for 'em, they are most welcome to them. Will post some videos of those later on if anyone is keen. I think 650/700's or around that size.

Okay, haven't heard back yet, and it's Christmas, so I'm not surprised. I will keep you posted when I hear something.

Have replied to Torinocobra and will get a price in a few days to send them up, less a few parts Thomas has claimed.

Carl,

The screw goes in for less oil and out for more. The manual suggests 1/8 turn at a time. I don't have a manual for the 340 but I would assume the adjustment on the diaphragm oilers would be the same for all.
Basic start setting shows 2-1/2 turns out.

Yes...I still need to scan up those OM I picked up.

Here you go Carl. A couple of pages for you. As Tim mentioned, but no note of baseline setting in this particular manual. My 330 is manual oiler only.

Funny story on my 330 that came without a bar from PO. I ran into another completely unrelated fellow in a different city 8 months later. Picked up a couple saws and he threw in a couple old bars he'd had for decades. Low and behold, here is the originally equipped bar for my particular 330. There is matching paint transfer from the bar pads still stuck to the bar. Perfect match. What are the chances of that?

Looking for some history on gear drives... I have a Canadien 271 (gear) as well as a 270 (non-gear). Looks like PM made both models in the same time frame and I assume they offered them both for sale at your friendly local Canadien dealer.

Why did fallers back then chose a gear drive over standard? Was is just for longer bars and harder wood? The 271 is heavier, and I assume was more expensive than the 270.

Any you nice fellows have either a spur or rim sprocket for a 275. Mine has a
1/2 spur and i'm looking to change to 404.

Thanks Lee

Are those the parts from kiwibro?
Unlikely.
The Thomas I referred to earlier is another OPE poster.

Having just weighed the two boxes of parts, excluding a few parts Thomas wants for the two PM's I sent him recently, they came to about 28kgs which works out at about US$350 to send. I figure you fellas would have to want them pretty bad to be paying that much but you are more than welcome to them, and anything else in the big old saw stash if you are paying the freight.

There's one PM saw left too. I'm not sure what model (270?):

The Pioneers, if anyone is interested, are 650, 700, and buggered-if-I-know.
