I finally got all the carb and fuel parts for my Husqvarna 44, got them installed, tuned the saw and it runs great again. Sweet little saw. Unfortunately, now the fuel tank has developed a slight seep in the bottom seam.

This is a 1983 saw which is the first year for plastic tanks on this model. I have searched this forum and found a few references to welding plastic tanks. My question now is - who’s done this with success? Anyone have tips on how to make the best repair?

Thanks in advance.

I did it on a 395xp. Worked great. Here's the advice I got from a guy who knows a lot more than me:

Hot soldering iron with a really blunt chisel tip. Take it slow and push towards the seam.

It’s basically like Tig welding with a plastic filler rod. Use the soldering iron at around a 45* angle with the top tilted away from you in your right hand and add the filler with your left as you “walk” the bead towards you. It works very well. An piece old busted tank works great for filler, but they also sell sticks on eBay.
