I use a brass punch that closely fits inside of the pin and its handle portion is smaller than the pin diameter. Put some WD40 on the pin and drive it through. Support the piston to make sure hammer impacts are absorbed by the piston and not by the connecting rod.

I’ve all kinds of home made methods over the years and wanted something cleaner, more simple. Though heat is something we never tried. The puller GBertolet recommended showed up today.
