IMG_5422.jpeg5 inch wheel seems about right 1/2 arbor

I have another set up with wire wheel and course stone.

Figure I might sharpen some drill bits and wondering about wheels. Good wheel’s suggestions. Just general purpose grinder

for just touching up drills /tool edges 45-60 grit about I hardness, for hogging 20-40 grit g hardness , hardness of wheel varies with speed a bit also make up of wheel will affect that also . vitrified wheels are harder than resonoid wheels. A=soft- z=hard scale wise. Garden variety wheels at hardware store will likely do just fine, most of the time those are just stated as fine , medium, coarse. As the grit gets finer the wheels act harder. one can spend a lot of time researching grinding wheels , it is a science in its self. And just to add a little spice no mfg is just the same as the next . I have wheels made to my specs, even there it varies a bit from lot to lot. With the crazy way things are now days I have to plan a minimum of 12 weeks in advance of what I will need.

I just go by: white, pink, grey (coarse, for steel), orange, brown, grey (fine, for carbide) :p

I used to know to "read" a wheels composition specs, but I forgot all of it. :(

Wheel for belt saw grinding (high alloy steel, SS), works great on chainsaw chains aside from being a little bit coarse.
Doesn't "burn" the chain cutter as easy as a "pink/salmon" wheel

Kinda hard to read, Weiler A60LM6V

Gang saw grinding wheel, can't make out the specs.
I'll ask my neighbor to check on a new wheel.
Brown wheel, quite fine grit, haven't tried it yet.
