More deer hit by cars than taken by hunters. Lol. Go figure.

Why is it that deer learn quickly that guys wearing orange and carrying rifles = bad news, but they cannot understand why their dead colleagues are on the side of the highway and how to avoid the same fate? Every morning I pass by the remains of two big, mature does that probably could have outsmarted Jack O'Connor.

13 year old shot this one first day. Poor kid is gonna be in for many years of disappointment. This was my 30th year of hunting and Ive never had an opportunity to kill a buck like this.

Those 77's are very nice rifles. I think accuracy problems on some early ones and the lack of any cheap versions kept it from selling as many as it could have. I always admired how Ruger kept chambering it in obscure and/or old school cartridges like .284 WCF, .350 Remington mag, and of course the 7x57 and it's progeny the .257 Roberts and 6mm Remington. I'd say that was Bill's idea.
257 roberts is a great round they also make it in 220 swift

I shot a nice buck tonight. Daylight ran out before the blood trail ended. It's going to be a looong night.

I think this is him in the trail cam pic:
