BTW @RI Chevy Jeff I think the ring on mine has finally seated as I cut up a maple tree Saturday and man was it ripping.
I haven't checked compression, but poor man's hanging by the starter rope and pulling it over it wants to bite more like she's back up over 200 lbs.

Last thing I did was rebuild carb (I'm original owner so it was 26 year old diaphragm and metering spring etc.), clean up a small bit of transfer on the exhaust side of cylinder -- test w/ the muriatic acid, and new meteor piston which included the wrist pin and IMHO nicer circlips that meteors use. Holds tune perfectly and she's strong.

Always a pleasure running this thing w/ 20" bar. 18" would be fine, but I like the 20 inch on these.

I should see if my buddy Tom is still interested in one of these...

I’m curious, what’s the side compartment on the rear handle for? The lunch break doobie? I don’t think I’ve ever seen this before..

I heard Husky had plans to add some electronics or the like in that compartment. The compartment is not very common and only included on the very early model 262s typically the ones w/ KS non-decomp cylinder and HDA-87 carb.
Interestingly -- I'm the original owner of my saw (bought in 1992 from a Husky shop in Rockville, CT) and it came w/ KS cylinder, HDA-87, but a non compartment handle -- I understand this is rather unheard of.

Cheers.

It was for a coil. Sort of an autotune type setup that was way before its time......

But a doobie fits in there. A small sammich. Maybe one of dem rubber ballons for protection if you know what I mean...what woman can resist a clean 262xpee. ;)

This saw is sold pending payment.

BUT!

Dont be sad fellas, i have a minty fresh 254 for sale as well.

I will post that one tomorrow.
