I am not sure, because I haven't tested it yet.
But I think in theory with a ported saw, faster chain speed, thus faster cuts.
I believe u will probably get better gas mileage at least, ( more wood cut on a tankful) and faster cuts up to large rounds.

The pin size depends a lot on the saws power .The three 99 cc saws I have handle an 8 pin 3/8" just fine as does the souped up 038 mag .The avatar saw plus two 125C McCullochs run 8's on .404 chain with no problem . You just have to experiment I guess on what works the best . If I remember correctly though a Stihl small spline will not take an Oregon rim like .325 .So if you need to change it it's an 8 dollar OEM Stihl not a 4 dollar Oregon .
